My Interest in Instant Answers
tl;dr; enhance stackoverflow instant answers to display relevant information from a language's (or library's) official documentation.
When pondering about some technical problem, I'm a big believer in deriving answers directly from the language/library/api documentation 1.
Sometimes this may not be possible, but even in the case where stackoverflow provides an immediate answer that may be found more quickly than a lengthy search through a product's official documentation, I believe it would be more valuable for an IA to capture both the 'best answer' and the relevant bits from the official documentation.
This would not only accomplish the objective of IA's providing quick answers, but it would also help developers become better developers by encouraging them to read product documentations.
Also, linking community generated answers from developer forums with snippets from official documentation may more readily illuminate the root-cause of the problem/question at-hand.
1 yes this also means I'm an advocate of paying it forward and spending the time to create and maintain good product documentation
